Best of Both Worlds—Flexibility of Open Source Combined with Commercial-Grade Reliability

Wind River recently unveiled Wind River Platform for Android, optimized on the Texas Instruments OMAP 3 platform. Wind River Platform for Android is a validated, fully compliant mobile platform based on the latest version of the Android software development kit (SDK), available with pre-integrated software from initial partners Adobe, PacketVideo, and Red Bend Software and global support by Wind River.

By delivering a commercial Android platform, we are offering a fast way for operators and handset manufacturers to innovate and differentiate without the risks common to open source software. Leveraging the benefits of a commercial software platform offered by Wind River allows the cost-effective expansion from an initial, expensive single SKU delivery to an entire portfolio of devices, without creating significant additional Android-related engineering and quality assurance costs.
