Target Operating System Support
The target operating system–aware debugging capability of Wind River Workbench On-Chip Debugging provides you with insight into both the operating system and the application logic that you need to effectively debug those complex software-hardware integration issues during the application development or system integration phases of your project.
Wind River Workbench On-Chip Debugging supports operating system–aware debugging for applications written for VxWorks and Wind River Linux operating systems. Wind River Workbench On-Chip Debugging also supports OS-aware debugging for Linux kernels from kernel.org and can be extended to support proprietary and third-party embedded operating systems.
The following target operating systems are supported by Wind River Workbench On-Chip Debugging:
- VxWorks 6.7, 6.6, 6.5, 6.4, 6.3
- VxWorks 5.5
- Wind River Linux 3.0, 2.0 (including Wind River Real-Time Core for Linux)
- Linux kernels 2.6, 2.4 from kernel.org
- Express Logic ThreadX 5.0, 4.0
The target OS-awareness capabilities in Wind River Workbench On-Chip Debugging can be extended using the Third-Party Operating System (TOS) API. The TOS API allows Wind River Professional Services to add support for a proprietary operating system or a third-party commercial operating system.
Consult the Wind River Workbench On-Chip Debugging product note for additional information on the target OS-aware debugging capabilities.
